Samsung Display is preparing to begin mass production of AMOLED panels for the upcoming Galaxy S27 smartphone series. The lineup will include four models, including a new Pro version, with production targets set to meet a 2027 launch window.
Why it matters
This indicates Samsung's long-term manufacturing strategy and supply chain scaling for its flagship mobile devices.
Earlier today we reported on the fact that Samsung has apparently started mass producing the Exynos 2700 chipset which will be used in its upcoming Galaxy S27 series. But that's not all. According to a separate report from Korea, Samsung Display is preparing to start mass production of the AMOLED panels for the Galaxy S27 family this month.
As rumored countless times before, there will be four members in this lineup: the 6.27-inch Galaxy S27 , the 6.66-inch Galaxy S27+, the 6.47-inch Galaxy S27 Pro , and the 6.89-inch Galaxy S27 Ultra .
The addition of the Pro model means Samsung Display expects to provide about 10% more panels for the Galaxy S27 series compared to the Galaxy S26 family, with its annual shipment target being between 47 million and 48 million units. The shipment target for the Galaxy S26 devices was in the "low 40 million range", for reference.
