Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday (September 19, 2026) announced plans to link 1 crore women with employment opportunities. He also said that the government will provide fellowships to 1,000 women to pursue a PhD , and under this fellowship, a monthly stipend of ₹10,000 will be provided for four years. He announced this during the 25 th foundation day of the Bihar State Women Commission.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Choudhary said that women in Bihar are moving forward rapidly, and their growing economic, social and political participation reflects the State’s changing landscape.

He added that the provision of 50% reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions and urban local bodies has significantly strengthened their participation. He also noted that ‘Jeevika’ has played an important role in making women economically strong.
