Punk got Zayn into the corner to start off the match, but Zayn slid out of the ring, where he was met with a Punk dive. Punk tweaked his knee during the beginnings of the bout, which he sold throughout the match and was checked on by the referee. After Punk wove him off, Zayn got out of the ring to hit a chop block, then drove the inside of Punk's knee into the ring post.
