Salem Railway Division collects ₹2.48 crore through ticket-checking drive in August

The Salem Railway Division (SRD) collected ₹2.48 crore through ticket-checking drives in August.
In a release on Saturday (September 5), the SRD said the ticket-checking squads of the Salem Division conducted regular checks onboard trains and on railway premises to detect various malpractices. During such checks, they detected cases of persons travelling without a ticket, irregular travel, unbooked luggage, etc. and levied penalties accordingly.
In August, the ticket-checking squads of the division detected 11,826 cases of ticketless travel and collected an amount of ₹1.32 crore in penalty, an increase of 18% in the amount collected compared with the corresponding period last year. In August 2025, the division collected an amount of ₹1.11 crore in penalty.
