Salem Railway Division collects ₹2.19 crore through ticket-checking drives in July

Members of the ticket-checking squads of the Salem Division conducted regular checks on moving trains and at railway premises to detect various malpractices. During such checks, they discovered cases of persons travelling without a ticket, irregular travel, unbooked luggage, etc. and levied penalties accordingly.
During the month of July, the ticket-checking squads detected 11,202 cases of ticketless travel and collected ₹1.22 crore as penalty from the offenders, an increase of 18% in amount collected as penalty as compared with the corresponding period last year. During July 2025, the division had collected to the tune of ₹1.03 crore as penalty.
