The Salem Corporation has released the list of top 400 property tax defaulters in four zones on its official website www.salemcorporation.gov.in. The data shows that these 400 people or institutions owe a total of ₹49. 83 crore (including penalties).
As per the Salem Corporation Budget, the civic body is expected to collect ₹160 crore in property taxes alone from 2,15,699 tax payers for the fiscal year 2026-27. Similarly, the Corporation is taking various steps to collect outstanding various amounting to over ₹200 crore, including property tax. As an important measure, the civic body has now made public the list of top 100 tax defaulters in the Corporation from each zone, which was posted on its official website on Monday evening.
