SADC Ministers pledge faster action on regional energy and water projects

Ministers from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) met to prioritize regional infrastructure projects in energy and water. The initiative aims to foster industrialization and sustainable development through improved cross-border resource management.

THE 44th Joint Meeting of SADC Ministers Responsible for Energy and Water has reaffirmed the region’s commitment to accelerating energy and water infrastructure development to drive regional integration, industrialisation and sustainable development.
Held in a hybrid format and hosted by South Africa on 17 July 2026, the meeting was officially opened by South Africa’s Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa. It was co-chaired by Dr Ramokgopa and South Africa’s Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pemmy Majodina.
