S.P. Velumani, Thangamani nominated for ‘Dheeran’ Chinnamalai commemorative events by AIADMK

The AIADMK has nominated two leading dissidents, Thondamuthur MLA S.P. Velumani and former Minister P. Thangamani, to attend events in Erode and Salem districts on August 3, 2026 to mark the death anniversary of ‘Dheeran’ Chinnamalai, a freedom fighter who lived in the 18 th and 19 th centuries CE.
According to a release issued by the party on Thursday (July 30), Mr. Velumani , one of the deputy general secretaries, has been named first in the list of those who will garland the statue of the freedom fighter at a memorial in Odanilai near Arachalur in Erode. The release mentioned the names of 15 other functionaries of the party.
