Ryder Cup: Securing spot for Adare Manor a 'big part' of Shane Lowry's motivation

Shane Lowry says it is time to get himself "in gear" if he is to secure his spot on Europe's Ryder Cup team for Adare Manor next year.

The 2019 Open champion is in the field at the Irish Open this week, with the qualification process for the 2027 Ryder Cup, to be held in County Limerick from 17-19 September, having commenced last month.

Irishman Lowry was a member of the European teams in 2021, 2023 and 2025, holing the winning putt in the latter event at Bethpage Black.

The 39-year-old has, however, fallen from 26th to 53rd in the world rankings over the course of 2026 in a season characterised by frustrating near-misses.
