President William Ruto has announced the construction of 252 kilometres of roads in Meru County, including Sh7 billion for the construction of the Nithi Bridge , as part of the government's efforts to improve infrastructure and boost economic activities in the region.
Speaking on Saturday during the burial of Mzee Patrick M'Anaiba Baikilanya, the father of Igembe North MP Julius Taitumu, at Kaelo in Meru County, Ruto said the projects will open up agricultural areas, reduce transport costs and improve access to markets.
The President also announced the deployment of 200 additional police officers to tackle cattle rustling and improve security.
He said the government had resolved to end livestock theft, which has persisted in parts of the county for decades.
