Ruto appoints Duncan Ojwang IPOA chair, Sossion and Lentoijoni to TSC

President William Ruto has appointed Dr. Duncan Ojwang as the new Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA). Additional appointments were made to the Public Service Commission and the Teachers Service Commission.

President William Ruto has made major appointments across key public institutions in a special issue of the Kenya Gazette dated August 31, 2026 .
The changes target the police oversight agency, the public service agency, and the teachers' employer .
In Gazette Notice No. 13998, the President appointed Dr Duncan Oburu Ojwang "to be the Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority for a period of six years" .
The appointment was made under the Constitution and section 11 (8) of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority Act .
Ojwang brings a wealth of experience in law, policy, and human rights, both in academia and public service.
