Russia's 'Web' system: New defence for energy and oil infrastructure against drones
Russian defense firm Rostec has developed a modular metal structure called 'Web' to protect critical energy infrastructure from drone strikes. The system is designed to withstand impacts from drones weighing up to 200 kg and is currently undergoing field trials.

Russian companies have developed a modular metal structure designed to protect oil storage facilities, electrical substations and other critical infrastructure from drone attacks, as Ukrainian strikes continue to target Russia’s energy sector.Called “Web”, the system was developed by RT-Project Technologies, a subsidiary of state-owned defence and technology conglomerate Rostec, in partnership with Standard-Elektrik. The system was presented at a closed event in Tver.According to the developers, the basic version of the structure can withstand a direct impact from a drone weighing up to 200 kg and travelling at up to 250 kmph. The system can be installed around facilities more than 25 metres high and expanded to cover areas of virtually any size.The structure has completed field tests for seismic stability, while testing its ability to withstand strikes from different types of drones is still underway.
