The Taoiseach has said Russia is "trying to kill as many civilians as possible" in order to put pressure on Ukraine to capitulate.

The meeting will focus on the latest breakdown in relations between President Zelensky and US President Donald Trump and how to meet Ukraine’s budgetary and military needs in 2027.
Ukraine has said that due to Russia’s escalating attacks on its civilian and energy infrastructure, as well as on the country’s ability to export grain, its budgetary situation is worse than when it secured a €90 billion loan last December.
