Rumor says Nintendo is "considering" Switch 2 OLED and could begin production by the end of the year
Reports suggest Nintendo is considering an OLED version of the upcoming Switch 2 console, potentially upgrading the screen to full HD resolution. Production could begin by late 2027, following new EU battery regulations.

This isn’t the only Switch model news we’ve reported on lately, as European customers are being treated to a new Switch 2 by early 2027, with an “easily replaceable” battery to keep in line with new EU regulations. The change is also expected to affect Nintendo’s existing Joy-Con and Pro Controller designs. It’s fair to say a newer OLED model would follow the same rules.
Reports from the Korean publication zdnet.co.kr claim that Nintendo of Japan is “considering” bringing an OLED panel to its Switch 2 console. The new model would see Nintendo improving the Switch 1 OLED’s HD (1280 x 720) screen to a full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution to keep in line with the 1080p screen currently fitted into the Nintendo Switch 2.
