The Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized a consignment of 32 kg of ganja from a bag inside an express train at Jolarpet railway station on Thursday.
The police said that as part of a special drive against the illegal transportation of narcotic substances and inflammable articles on trains, a team of RPF personnel was conducting surprise checks at the railway station.
The team searched the train that had halted on platform 2 en route to Chennai, and found two bags abandoned in its general compartment. On opening the bag, they found bundles of ganja inside.
Initial inquiry revealed that three persons had abandoned the consignment and fled the spot when they noticed the police team.
