RPF personnel act swiftly to recover 26 sovereigns of gold left by woman passenger on train
Railway Protection Force personnel successfully recovered a bag containing gold and cash left behind by a passenger on a train. The suspects, an elderly couple, were apprehended at a bus stand and handed over to the police.

In a swift action, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel from Madurai and Virudhunagar nabbed an elderly couple at Virudhunagar bus stand after they were fleeing with a bag containing 26 sovereigns of gold and ₹50,000 absent-mindedly left behind on a train by a woman passenger who got down at Koodal Nagar railway station here on Saturday.
The missing valuables were found in-tact and the couple were produced before a court. The Judicial Officer let them go on bail considering their advanced age.
According to RPF sources, the passenger on Mahal Express, S. Mahadevi of Tambaram, had got down at Koodal Nagar railway station on Saturday morning. She had left behind her bag with the valuables in the rear general compartment of the train.
She immediately reported it to the Station Master at Koodal Nagar, who, in turn, alerted the RPF personnel in Madurai.
