RPF, Nemili police seize 16 kg of ganja in separate cases; four persons held

Four drug peddlers were arrested, and 16 kg of ganja was seized in two separate surprise checks by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Nemili police in Ranipet on Tuesday.
The police said that in the first incident, K. Vikram, 26, B. Deepak Kumar, 22, I. Yabesh, 24, and S. Anjanappa, 27, were arrested by Nemili police near Arakkonam town.
Initial inquiry revealed that Nemili police were conducting a surprise check on Panapakkam Main Road, when they saw a gang attempting to flee after they noticed police on the stretch. However, they were nabbed.
The police team also seized 6 kg of ganja from them. The drug peddlers were allegedly selling small quantities of ganja at public places in surrounding villages near Nemili and Arakkonam towns. A case was registered. and the arrested persons were lodged at Central Prison in Vellore.
