Road workers stage demonstration
Members of the Tamil Nadu Highways Road Employees’ Association held a demonstration to demand the regularization of services and compassionate employment for families of deceased workers. They also called for the dissolution of the State Highways Authority to prioritize local rural youth for road work.

Members of Tamil Nadu Highways Road Employees’ Association staged a demonstration at the Highways Department Office premises pressing for a charter of demands, on Tuesday.
The protest was led by divisional president, V. Manimaran. K. Neethiraja, State secretary of Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Association, delivered the inaugural address.
The association demanded that the State Government withdrew its appeal against the High Court order of 2024 that directed the department to regularise their services during 41-month period of dismissal.
The Government should consider the petitions seeking employment on compassionate grounds from the wards of deceased workers.
