A Road Inspector attached to the State Highways Department was arrested for allegedly killing his mother on Monday (July 6). The accused was identified as T. Poomalai (40) of Sathapadi near Gangavalli. According to police, a quarrel broke out between Poomalai’s mother T. Sivakami (65) and his wife Tamilarasi on June 26, during which Poomalai attacked his mother. She fell down and sustained injuries. Subsequently, she was admitted to the Government Hospital in Salem, but she succumbed to her injuries on Monday early morning. The Gangavalli police registered a case and arrested Poomalai, who was remanded.
