RMC forecasts enhanced rainfall activity across parts of Tamil Nadu
The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu, particularly in the Western Ghats and coastal districts, through the weekend. This weather pattern is expected to provide relief from the high temperatures that have affected the state throughout July.

Rainfall activity is expected to pick up in Tamil Nadu, particularly over the Western Ghats region and north coastal districts, till the weekend, with the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecasting heavy rainfall in some places.
The RMC has forecast Chennai would receive light to moderate rainfall in some areas during evening or night hours on Thursday and experience a maximum temperature of 38 degree Celsius.
The wet spell, which is expected to continue till August 4, is also likely to bring respite from the sizzling temperatures prevailing over interior parts of the State. On Wednesday, maximum temperatures eased slightly, with Madurai Airport recording 39 degrees Celsius, the hottest in the State. The mercury level had peaked above 40 degrees Celsius at the weather station on Tuesday, as on many other days this July.
