Fashion brand River Island has recalled four children’s clothing products after it was found they had “an excess concentration of cadmium”.
The United Kingdom Office for Product Safety and Standards issued a recall notice confirming that the brooch attached to the garments contained cadmium.
The recalled items include a white crepe skort, a white crepe top with bow and heart-shaped brooch details, and a one-shoulder scuba dress in both pink and blue.
All sizes of the affected clothing have been recalled.
Breathing air containing high levels of cadmium can cause a metallic taste in the mouth, shortness of breath, chest pain, coughing and flu-like symptoms.
Some symptoms may not appear until several hours after exposure.
