Rinkevics does not see Russia being ready for ceasefire and calls on Europe to continue supporting Ukraine

Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics stated that there are no indications Russia is prepared for a ceasefire in Ukraine. He urged Europe to maintain military and financial support for Ukraine through the winter.
Why it matters
The statement underscores the ongoing geopolitical tension in Eastern Europe and the reliance of Ukraine on continued Western support to counter Russian objectives.
RIGA - There are currently no signs that Russia is ready to agree to a ceasefire, so Europe must continue to support Ukraine both militarily and financially and help it prepare for winter, President Edgars Rinkevics emphasized in an interview with commercial TV3 television today, commenting on U.S. President Donald Trump's statements regarding an energy truce and an agreement with Russia on diesel fuel supplies.
When asked about the prospects for a ceasefire, Rinkevics noted that he views the situation realistically. In his view, Russia still does not want to end the war because its leader, Vladimir Putin, hopes for victory. "Putin remains convinced that he can win," said the president.
