Rights panel directs Corpn. to prepare action plan for mosquito-control in Kochi
The State Human Rights Commission has ordered the Kochi Corporation to implement an urgent mosquito-control and sanitation plan. This directive follows a rise in dengue cases and aims to improve public health infrastructure in the city.

The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has directed the Kochi Corporation to prepare and implement an action plan to control mosquitoes and clean drains on a war footing amid reports of dengue spreading in different parts of the city.
SHRC Chairperson Alexander Thomas directed the Corporation Secretary to convene an urgent meeting of the Clean City Manager, the head of the Corporation’s health wing and other stakeholders to formulate an effective plan. The measures should be implemented first in dengue-prone areas, and later in the rest of the city, the order said.
The rights panel also directed the Corporation to take into account the views of ward councillors and office-bearers of residents’ associations while planning and implementing the programme.
