JACKSON, Tenn. (WBBJ) -In our continuing coverage, a man is dead after police say he was shot during an armed robbery at a local business.

The Jackson Police Department says they responded to a call regarding a robbery and shooting around 9 p.m. Thursday night at Ridgecrest Cellars Wine and Spirits located at 2880 Ridgecrest Road Extended in Jackson.

According to JPD, witnesses say a masked man walked into the store, brandished a gun, and demanded cash from employees.

The suspect then fired multiple shots after receiving the money.

One employee was struck by the gunfire and killed.

The victim has been identified as 56-year-old Suresh Patel.

According to sources, Patel had just taken over Ridgecrest Cellars this past Monday as the new owner and they say his 19-year-old daughter was standing next to him when he was shot.
