Revanth questions voter decline despite population growth, calls for intensifying agitation against CEC

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has accused the Election Commission of India of manipulating electoral rolls to favor the BJP. He is calling for intensified protests against the Chief Election Commissioner, citing a decline in voter numbers despite population growth.
Why it matters
The allegations strike at the core of democratic integrity in India, potentially impacting public trust in the upcoming electoral processes.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday questioned the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the decline in voter numbers despite population growth and accused the BJP of using the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to delete eligible voters opposed to the party. He called for intensifying the agitation led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Addressing a protest organised by the INDIA bloc in Delhi, Mr. Revanth Reddy alleged that the BJP was using the ECI as a tool to retain power, just as it had allegedly used the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Income Tax Department.
