IMMANUEL Hainghumbi, a respected elder of the Onaame/Okatope community, retired teacher, former pastor and one of the founding councillors of Helao Nafidi Town in the Ohangwena Region, has died aged 84.
It is said that as a Bible Studies teacher at Ponhofi Senior Secondary School in the 1980s, he engaged in political sensitisation of students, attracting the attention of the security forces.
The resultant constant harassment eventually forced him to go into exile in Angola with his family in 1988.
