More than 50 people living in the vicinity of Chinnavedampatti lake petitioned Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja during the weekly public grievances redress meeting on Tuesday (July 28), urging the civic body to halt the construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) near the water body.
The residents questioned the Corporation on whether a comprehensive livelihood impact assessment and feasibility study had been carried out before the project was taken up. They also sought to know why the Corporation was proceeding with the work despite sustained opposition from residents.
