Residents to hold public consultations in 9 north Chennai Assembly constituencies

Residents are set to start public consultations in nine Assembly constituencies of north Chennai to finalise civic infrastructure projects. The first meeting will be held on September 6 in Perambur Assembly constituency at Raj Mahal in Kannadasan Nagar.
T.K. Shanmugam, president of the Federation of North Chennai Residents’ Welfare Associations, said: “Residents have demanded Metro Rail connectivity between Mint and Red Hills via Washermenpet, Basin Bridge, Ashok Pillar, Vyasarpadi, Sathyamurthy Nagar, M.K.B. Nagar, Ambedkar College Road, Erukkenchery High Road, Moolakadai, G.N.T. Road, Madhavaram Roundtana, and Kavangarai.”
As a 400-bed hospital has been planned on Erukkenchery High Road, the residents have also demanded an elevated road from Moolakadai to Vyasarpadi Ambedkar College to ease traffic congestion. Residents have also demanded an integrated transport plan to ease traffic congestion in Perambur.
