Residents take out protest following drinking water shortage in Kochi
Residents of T.D. Road in Kochi staged a protest against the Kerala Water Authority due to a month-long drinking water shortage. Officials attributed the crisis to leakage issues caused by a damaged water tank.

With the drinking water shortage persisting in the city, residents near T.D. Road, Kochi, protested in front of the Kerala Water Authority’s (KWA) office on Monday (September 14, 2026), seeking an urgent resolution.
According to K.S. Dilip Kumar, president of T.D. Road Citizens Welfare Association, more than 100 families living in the T.D. Road premises have been affected with a drinking water crisis for the past one month.
“Most of these people are senior citizens, and they find it so hard to manage the situation. Even those who have wells cannot rely on that water for drinking purposes,” said Mr. Kumar.
According to him, despite repeated requests by the residents to the water utililty, the issue hasn’t been resolved, which prompted them to carry out a dharna in front of the office.
