Residents plead for steps to control dog menace near Tirunelveli Junction

Urging the Tirunelveli Corporation to take immediate steps for sterilising stray dogs to control their proliferation, members of Sripuram Welfare Association near Tirunelveli Junction submitted a petition to the Corporation on Tuesday.
Led by association president B. Balakrishnan, the petitioners said the dog menace had become unbearable in the area as residents’ repeated appeal to the Corporation for animal birth control had been ignored. Those going for morning and evening walks and the children going out were attacked by dogs.
“Hence, the Corporation, which administered anti-rabies vaccine to stray dogs, should organise special camp in Sripuram for sterilising these animals to control their numbers in our area,” Mr. Balakrishnan said.
