Residents oppose eviction notice
Residents of several areas in Dindigul protested against eviction notices issued by the Revenue Department for building homes on government land. While officials offered to make alternative arrangements, the residents, who have lived there for over 50 years, are demanding to remain in their current locations.

Around 50 residents from Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Sakthipuram and other nearby areas staged a protest in Dindigul Collectorate opposing the eviction notices issued to them.
The residents submitted a petition to the Dindigul Collector. Earlier, the residents had laid siege to Dindigul East Taluk Office opposing the eviction notices issued to them.
The protesters said more than 250 families were residing in the areas. Recently, the Revenue Department issued notices to the residents stating that they had built houses on the government poramboke land and asked them to vacate the premises.
The residents gathered at the Taluk Office and staged a protest. The officials held talks with the residents and during the discussion, the officials told the residents that since houses were built on government poramboke land, they had to vacate the areas.
