The residents of Karuvelampatti, a tribal village, coming under Vadakavunji panchayat in Kodaikanal in Dindigul district on Monday petitioned the Dindigul Collector urging the authorities to fulfil the long pending demand to extend bus service to the village.
They said the mini bus service should be extended to Karuvelampatti and its nearby villages. A large number of tribal people were residing in Karuvelampatti and its nearby villages. The people were forced to hire the private vehicles for their travel and work, they said.
Due to the lack of proper mini bus or bus services, the residents faced much hardship, they said, adding that they were unable to travel to other places and even for work-related or in the cases of emergencies they were forced to hire the private vehicles which added to the financial burden, they said.
