The residents’ welfare association of Thirumoolar Colony in Anna Nagar is known for taking active interest in the upkeep of its neighbourhood.

The association, called Thirumoolar Colony Narpani Munetra Sangam, has set up a study hall for youngsters preparing for competitive examinations. It was inaugurated this February.

“The hall measures 500 sq.ft. It was built on a land belonging to Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board at a cost of ₹16,000 which was raised through crowd funding. Residents and many well-wishers of the Association contributed the sum. The facility is under CCTV surveillance. Drinking water and restroom facilities are available. The aim of setting up this facility is to provide a conducive environment for youngsters to prepare for their examinations,” says K. Ganesan, the association president.

The facility has been witnessing good patronage.
