The number of missing was raised on Monday evening. Eight people have been confirmed dead.
Earlier in the day, the captain of the vessel and eight others were placed under formal arrest, as three days of national mourning began, according to the official state news agency of the self-declared Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
