Renukaswamy murder case: Karnataka High Court permits limited personal appearance of Darshan during cross-examination of key witnesses

The High Court of Karnataka on Friday permitted the personal appearance of actor Darshan only for a few days when key witnesses in the Renukaswamy murder case would be subjected to cross-examination by his counsel after the prosecution completes examination-in-chief of the witnesses.

Justice V. Srishananda passed the order while disposing of the petition filed by Darshan through his wife Vijayalakshmi.

Darshan had sought direction to the authorities to produce him physically before the trial court, which is housed in the city civil court complex in the city centre, every day of the proceedings instead of his appearance through videoconference from the Bengaluru central prison.

However, the High Court permitted his personal appearance only for two to three days or a couple of days more, if required, only when his counsel cross examines the key witnesses, particularly eight witnesses whose names were submitted by his counsel to the court.
