The Chief Minister’s Office has written to Meta and the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT over the removal of posts from Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan’s official Facebook page (CMO Keralam).
The two posts removed included one announcing the Onam festival allowance for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and another conveying Nabi Dina (Milad-un-Nabi) greetings, marking the observance of the birth of the Islamic Prophet Muhammed
The CMO has asked Meta to restore the posts and to clarify on the basis of IT rules the reason why this content was taken down.
In the letter, Chief Minister’s Secretary Rathan U. Kelkar also asked the Union IT Ministry to intervene to ensure that such arbitrary action from the side of Meta did not recur.
