Reminder issued to vaccinate dogs against canine distemper virus

Dog owners should exercise caution whilst out walking – dogs must be kept on a lead to prevent any accidental contact with foxes and other wild animals, their carcasses or excrement. If there is any suspicion that a dog has nevertheless come into contact with any of the above, a vet should be contacted immediately. Animals suffering from CDV display respiratory and digestive system disorders, coordination problems, convulsions, disorientation and altered behaviour. Canine distemper is not dangerous to humans.
