Remains of 10 more infants found at site of former mother and baby home in Tuam

Forensic teams have recovered the remains of 10 more infants at the site of a former mother and baby home in Tuam, Ireland. This brings the total number of bodies found at the site to 109 as part of a multi-year excavation project.

The remains of a further 10 infants have been discovered at the site of the former mother and baby home in Tuam , Co Galway, bringing the total number of bodies recovered to 109.
A forensic excavation of the site by the Office of the Director of Authorised Intervention, Tuam (Odait) has been ongoing since July 2025 and is expected to take two years.
In an update on Friday, Odait said it had recovered a further 10 infants from a specific location of the site excavated by hand where the remains of 22 infants had been discovered previously.
Evidence of coffins was found with all 10 sets of remains. The latest discoveries bring the total number of human remains discovered on site to 109.
