Relief camps shut in Kerala’s Ernakulam as rain situation eases
Relief camps in Kerala's Ernakulam district have been closed following an improvement in weather conditions after days of heavy rain. While some river water levels remain high, the district administration has downgraded weather alerts and continues to monitor the situation.

After days of heavy downpour, which led to flood-like situations in several areas, the district found some relief on Friday as the weather conditions improved. All relief camps in the district were closed by Friday as the rain situation eased.
The camp at Neerpara in Kothamangalam taluk was the only one that remained open till Friday. Four other facilities in the taluk had been closed by Thursday.
All five relief camps in Muvattupuzha taluk and the three in Kunnathunad were also closed by Thursday (August 6, 2026). One of the Kunnathunad camps was shut on Wednesday (August 5, 2026) and the remaining two on Thursday.
The eastern parts of the district received only light spells of rain on Friday, helping the situation improve in several areas, including the tribal spots around Pooyamkutty river.
