The relatives and family members of a 23-year-old woman of Jayanthi Nagar near Chalapalayam, who ended her life allegedly due to usury, on Friday refused to receive her body, demanding the arrest of all the accused in the case.

According to sources, Kandasamy, father of deceased Kalaivani, was said to have borrowed ₹1.54 lakh from a money lender from Viswanthapuri. Kandasamy said he had repaid the loan along with interest. However, it was alleged that the money lender came to his house a few days ago and verbally abused him and his daughter Kalaivani and demanded that they repay the loan. A group of persons, at the instigation of the lender, allegedly beat up Kandasamy. Upset over the humiliation, Kalaivani, who was engaged to be married in six months, allegedly ended her life on Thursday.
