Councillors of the Salem Corporation are demanding the reinstatement of their contact details on the official municipal website. The information was removed two months ago, which officials argue hinders public access to their elected representatives.

Councillors of the Salem Corporation have sought to display their names along with phone numbers on the Corporation’s official website, which were removed two months ago.
Salem Corporation’s official website - www.salemcorporation.gov.in, earlier, had the names of councillors of all the 60 ward along with their photographs and mobile numbers, and public were able to access the required phone numbers easily. However, it is said the Corporation removed the details two months ago. Even the photograph of the City Mayor and Commissioner was removed. At present, the website shows the name of former Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan and other Corporation officials, some of who are transferred to other districts.
