Regulator-mandated study finds no link between semaglutide use and pancreatic cancer
A regulator-mandated study involving nationwide health registries in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway found no link between the use of semaglutide and pancreatic cancer. The research compared new users of the drug for type 2 diabetes against those using non-incretin medications.

The regulator-mandated post-authorization study was presented by Anton Pottegård, a professor at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, and colleagues.
Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and weight management. A risk of pancreatic cancer has been hypothesized for incretin-mimetic antidiabetic drugs, including GLP-1RAs.
