Nampally legislator Mohammed Majid Hussain on Friday (September 18, 2026) urged the Telangana government to regularise the services of employees working at Hyderabad’s historic Mecca Masjid and Shahi Masjid in Public Gardens and demanded a speedy framing of service rules for them.

Raising the issue on the floor of the Telangana Legislative Assembly, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA said that the 30 employees discharging duties at the masjids have been facing hardships for several years. He underscored that they have been denied benefits that are given to other categories of employees, despite workers being in service before Independence.

Mr. Hussain said the employees work tirelessly from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., have no holidays, and work 365 days a year. He maintained that no service rules were framed specifically for employees of the two mosques.
