Registration mandatory for drones weighing above 250 grams
District authorities in Malappuram have mandated the registration of all drones weighing over 250 grams via the Digital Sky portal. The move aims to enhance security and ensure compliance with national civil aviation regulations.

District Collector Vinay Goyal has issued fresh guidelines regulating the registration, possession, and transfer of drones and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) in Malappuram. The guidelines are in line with directions from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation and the State government.
Under the order, all drones weighing more than 250 grams must be registered through the Digital Sky portal and obtain a unique identification number (UIN). The portal must also be updated with details of the new owner whenever a drone is sold or transferred.
