Accusing the Bihar government of using excessive force against protesting students, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday (September 3, 2026) warned the BJP that any regime that suppresses the voice of the youth will eventually have to answer to the people.
Mr. Gandhi made his remarks after meeting students and young people from Bihar who, he said, had faced “horrific police brutality” while demanding fair opportunities, a transparent examination system, and their rights.
“Police lathis as well as gunfire from AK-47s and pistols left many students injured,” Mr. Gandhi said in a post on X. He claimed that a young man aspiring to join the Army had suffered a leg injury from an AK-47 bullet, shattering his “life-long dream” of serving the country.
