Red, yellow alerts raised over Visays grid on Aug. 24

MANDAUE CITY, Cebu — Another round of red and yellow alerts was raised over the Visayas grid on Monday, August 24, as businesses opened for the day, potentially leading to rotational brownouts .
In an advisory released at 8 a.m. today, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the grid had an available capacity of only 2,312 megawatts, while peak demand could reach 2,395 MW.
Due to the supply insufficiency, a red alert will be in effect from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., while yellow alerts will be raised from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
