Red Sox Notes: Durbin, Trade Targets, Suarez

A sports commentator criticizes the Boston Red Sox management for their poor handling of a player's transition from third base to first base. The author argues that a lack of transparency and honest communication with the player damaged the professional relationship.
Why it matters
This reflects on the importance of management ethics and communication in professional sports organizations.
redsoxu – I’ve spent soooo much time writing about it.
I’ve posted article after article, provided dozens of quotes from people in the MLB world, provided several fantastic detailed articles of how badly management handled the Raffy situation, and detailed the chain of events.
Even Breslow and Kennedy and Cora all admitted they handled the situation awfully. I could provide quotes from them, but would it matter?
It’s really simple when summarized like this:
1) Don’t lie to Raffy by constantly telling him he’s a great defensive 3B and his 3B job is safe for the upcoming season.
2) Don’t insult him by telling him to throw away his glove because he’ll never play even an inning in the field again.
