Red River chaos: Oklahoma knocks off No. 1 Texas 27-24 on a field goal as time expires after two late Arch Manning interceptions
The University of Oklahoma defeated the No. 1 ranked Texas Longhorns 27-24 in a dramatic finish following two late-game interceptions by Arch Manning. A last-second field goal secured the victory for the Sooners.
Why it matters
This result significantly impacts the college football rankings and highlights the volatility of the high-profile Red River rivalry.
Oklahoma capitalized on two fourth-quarter interceptions from Texas QB Arch Manning to beat the No. 1 Longhorns 27-24 on a field goal by Tate Sandell as the clock hit zero.
The Sooners had the chance to get Sandell in position for the game-winning 47-yard kick thanks to two incredible catches from Isaiah Sategna III after Courtland Guillory intercepted Manning with 19 seconds to go and the game tied at 24-24.
Guillory's pick came as Texas was seemingly setting itself up for a game-winning field goal of its own. Texas had the chance to take the lead with 1:54 to go, but Gianni Spetic's 53-yard field goal attempt sailed just wide right.
Oklahoma punted the ball back to the Longhorns after failing to get a first down. But Guillory's pick gave Oklahoma new life, and Sategna made the most of the opportunity.
