Reconstruction of pretelescopic and early telescopic solar activity cycles from auroral records
Researchers have developed a new method to reconstruct historical solar activity cycles using sparse records of low-latitude auroral sightings. By applying Monte-Carlo simulations to data from the Early Modern Active Period, the study successfully maps solar cycles between 1540 and 1640.
