Recognise human potential beyond business opportunities: Sashikumar Sreedharan

Google Cloud India MD Sashikumar Sreedharan addressed graduates at Digital University Kerala, urging them to look beyond business profits to solve societal problems. The event also featured the Governor of Kerala, who encouraged students to lead change rather than just serve existing systems.
Why it matters
It reflects shifting priorities in higher education and corporate leadership toward social responsibility and ethical innovation.
Sashikumar Sreedharan, managing director, Google Cloud (India), has said that the younger generation should develop the ability to look beyond the obvious business potential of a problem and recognise the possibilities it creates for people and society.
Speaking as the Guest of Honour at the 4th convocation ceremony of Digital University Kerala (DUK) on Thursday, Mr. Sreedharan added that products and services are evolving into experiences in a smart and increasingly digital world, while the boundaries between different sectors are increasingly blurring.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who serves as the Chancellor of the university, said that while colonial education was largely designed to produce people who would serve an existing system, new models of education should create individuals capable of leading change.
He also urged the graduates to move beyond the pursuit of employment and develop a broader sense of responsibility towards the nation.
